The brief: sell the process, and highlight the results
Brent runs AgCon on his own. Stump grinding and mulching, all over Southland and Otago. Before we started capturing content, he mentioned that he really wanted to help people understand his service, and what the process can look like from start to finish. And important point to share was how, through his services, the land goes from rough and rugged, to mulched and useable straight away.
It was important to Brent to make sure we captured everything in a contained space, and showed how he can work on complex sites that might be beside a busy road, or a part of an active construction site.
The approach: One chance to capture it all, strategic about angles
We had only one chance to film and photograph Brent at this construction site, because we were filming an active job that he was contracted to complete that day.
This meant that Brent only had a certain amount of time to grind about 12 stumps, and once they were ground up, it’s not like we could set it up again.
So this meant we had to be strategic about which angles to capture, when to capture photo and video, and being as safe as possible being right beside an active busy highway road as well as the active construction site.
It was challenging to have Brent talk to camera while on site because of all of the noise, so we determined it was best to use graphic overlays to explain the process of what he does.
The visuals worked really well to keep things simple and easy to follow.
The Result: A new business with strong HERO marketing content
The result of the half day shoot was 50 edited high resolution images for use on the AgCon website and socials, and 3 video clips that Brent planned to use for targeted social media advertising.
In a half day, Brent and I were able to develop a strong set of HERO content that will help AgCon stand out among any competition, and serve as educational material for any prospective clients he has in the future.
It was great to work with Brent on this project on short notice, and amazing to learn about another incredible kind of business servicing the agricultural and construction sector!
Common Questions about commercial photo and video shoots
What do you get from a half-day photo and video shoot?
My half-day commercial package covers up to four hours on site, 25 to 50 edited photos and 60 to 90 seconds of finished video. You can split that video however suits you: one longer promo, or a few short clips for social. For AgCon it became a few clips: a 45-second promo 30 second clip, and a 15-second clip.
How do revisions work on a video project?
I share drafts on Frame.io. You pause the video wherever you want a change and type your comment, and it’s pinned to that exact second. AgCon’s videos went through three rounds this way before sign-off.
