my mission

I strive to take photos that are relatable and impactful

Welcome to my About Me page.  My approach to creating content is all about capturing the human connection.  We all interact with the world differently, but we share a common set of emotions and expressions that are instantly recognisable in any image.  It is my goal to capture people candid in their environment, and to bring those emotions to the surface for people to connect with.

"Adventure photographer outdoors in New Zealand with snow-capped mountains in the background, wearing a Patagonia headband and a down jacket. Capturing the essence of adventure and nature in Queenstown." About me
"Outdoor adventure photographer trekking through New Zealand's alpine terrain, carrying professional camera gear. Showcasing rugged exploration and on-location photography in Queenstown."

My STORY

I am a New York expat photographer, filmmaker and educator living in Queenstown, New Zealand since 2018.

I originally came to New Zealand to work as a primary school teacher and had big ambitions to help change the American education system by studying Innovative Learning Environments (ILEs).

But I also knew New Zealand was known as the adventure capital of the world…so I found a way to combine my passion for teaching with my already adventurous lifestyle, and signed up for an essential skills visa and left on my overseas experience…and I’m still enjoying it to this day!

I now spend my time between Queenstown, New Zealand and New York and would love to continue helping people and companies create content in either place.

I have always been an outdoorsy person, starting with spending most of my childhood climbing trees, playing in the snow and going on many hiking missions.

I was always interested in outdoor pursuits, and slowly started bringing a camera along to capture the fun for my friends and I.

It wasn’t until I moved to New Zealand that I even realised I could turn my hobby into a business!

You’ll find me most weekends backcountry snowboarding and surfing through the winter, and hiking or mountain biking in the summer — all with my camera in tow. I love capturing every part of it.

Adventure feeds my soul and informs everything I do.

I decided to leave the comfort of a full-time job to start my own photography company… not only as a way to keep exploring the country, but also to share it with others.

It all started when I brought my camera along on weekend adventures with a social group I volunteered for in Auckland called Got To Get Out.My photos started getting noticed and picked up by corporate sponsors. I even wrote a feature article for Adventure Magazine, and my images were distributed nationally and suddenly realised…I had a budding second career!

I formally incorporated my business in November 2021.

I began with adventure sports and tourism photography, and have since expanded into:

– Commercial and advertising work

– Corporate events and event marketing

– Campaign content for rebrands and HERO visuals

– Videography and documentary filmmaking
– Workshop based education (local workforce development and experiential photography workshops)

My goal is to help brands tell stories that are high-quality, relatable, and impactful.

I am not sponsored by any camera companies (yet!)…but I started my career with some Canon cameras and have stuck with them since.

I own the following gear:

A canon R6 body
A Canon 24-105 L lens
A Tamron 70-200 2.8 G2 (Canon)
DJI RS 2 Pro Gimbal
Video tripod
Photo tripod
Hollyland Lark M2 lav microphones
Shotgun microphone

I also use an Atlas Athlete Pack to carry all of my camera on any outdoor location shoots…best pack I have ever owned…and I’m not just saying that because I am an Atlas Packs Ambassador!

My Marketing Approach

This promotional video was created for the 2023 Auckland Business Chamber Awards, where I was a finalist in the “Excellence in Marketing” category.  It explains a little bit about my approach to marketing my photography business and what I believe has set me apart from others in the industry so far.
