“The Annual Greensteam” Film Wins 2 Awards

“The Annual Greensteam” film was the first film I ever created, all of it was self directed and produced end to end by me, and I submitted it to film festivals.

I was introduced to this incredible annual event in Wanaka, NZ through my friend Kiel who helped run the day, and I filmed the whole documentary on one camera, by myself, while also capturing HERO photography.

The event profiled a group of 50+ riders that choose to say “no” to a car for a day, and ride up to the ski fields from town using their bicycles as a way to bring attention to climate change and the impacts of climate change on the ski industry.

I followed the group as they rode over 20 kms from Wanaka township, out to Treble Cone Ski Field, up the mountain access road over 1,000 meters, ski touring almost 1,000 meters and then riding all the way back to town on their bikes.

The film run time is over 20 minutes, and was picked up for 2 major film festival awards, A Special Jury Award at the 2024 NZ Mountain Film Festival, and an Official Selection Award for the Big Bike Film Night.

I was also interviewed on Radio New Zealand to discuss the film and the impact of the event in the ski industry.  The film has now been viewed buy tens of thousands of people all around the world and continues to make an impact nearly 2 years later.
