Your instructor

I am a New York expat photographer, videographer, filmmaker and educator living in Queenstown, New Zealand.

I moved to New Zealand from New York in 2018 to be a school teacher, and then I started my own photography business along the way.  For the past seven years, I’ve been capturing some of New Zealand’s most intense and exciting adventure sports moments—from mountain biking and snowboarding to endurance racing and commercial outdoor campaigns.

My work has been featured in global tourism campaigns, major New Zealand adventure sports events like the Volcanic Epic, Whaka100, Crankworx, Ocean Swim Series and high-profile collaborations with outdoor sports brands across New Zealand.

📸 Why I Built This Workshop

Adventure sports photography is an art and a skill, requiring both technical mastery and on-the-ground adaptability. Some days, it feels like its own sport!

I started to notice so many “landscape photography workshops” popping up across New Zealand, focusing on one of the country’s most clear tourism draw cards:  Its beautiful scenery.

But I realised there seemed to be very little opportunities so far for people to learn about and practise up-skilling in photography to work in New Zealand’s second biggest drawcard: its adventure sports and tourism industry.

I was given my start in the industry while still full time teacher and self-taught hobbist
, and now I want to share my experience and expertise with others so you can do what I did.

Most adventure sports workshops seem to be one-offs, single sport focused and short.  Being based in Queenstown though, I realised I could create a workshop, where in the space of one week, we could get out and capture every major adventure sport in one region, in one long workshop.

New Zealand, and Queenstown in particular, is unique because you really can live a “multi-sport life” here and get out and do multiple adventure sports in any given day.

So I designed this workshop to bridge that gap and offer a real world chance to work with real world adventure businesses, brands and professional athletes.

I was given the chance to grow my passion into a profession, and now I want to teach you everything you need to know in order to do the same.

From technical, on location shooting skills to brand collaboration tactics, editing/business workflows and a chance to network inside the adventure sports and tourism industry that makes New Zealand tick.

My hope is that you come away from our 5 days together feeling charged up, “thrown into the fire” (figuratively!) and come away feeling like you got to experience the very best of New Zealand adventure sports culture, and you can go out into the world promoting yourself to your dream clients, building a real and tangible brand that makes a difference in the Adventure Sports community.
