Surfing at Piha Beach
This gallery was shot during COVID lockdown in Auckland, New Zealand when the surf was on. I went for a walk with a Sony A7R4, a 100-400 GM lens and a 2x teleconverter. I watched as surfers pushed through intense conditions and seemed to be playing around by jumping off their boards after they surfed a wave. It was a serious feat of aerial acrobatics and made for impressive images that look accidental, but are entirely calculated jumps from their boards.
